12 Days Itinerary – Aswan to Cairo Journey

Visit the Philae Temple, dedicated to Goddess Isis, beautifully located on Agilkia Island. Explore the High Dam, Egypt’s modern engineering marvel controlling the Nile floods.  Discover the Unfinished Obelisk, the largest known ancient obelisk, left incomplete in the granite quarries of Aswan. Overnight in Aswan.

Early morning excursion to the Abu Simbel Temples, built by Ramses II and famous for their colossal statues and the solar alignment phenomenon. Return to Aswan and overnight at the hotel.

Visit Kom Ombo Temple, uniquely dedicated to two gods: Sobek (crocodile god) and Horus (falcon god). Continue to Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, dedicated to Horus. Drive to Luxor, check in at hotel, overnight stay.

Morning visit to Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built, dedicated to Amun-Ra. Evening visit to Luxor Temple, beautifully illuminated at night, symbolizing the union of Upper and Lower Egypt. Overnight in Luxor.

Overday trip to Dendera Temple in Qena, dedicated to Goddess Hathor, the goddess of love, joy, and music. Famous for its astronomical ceiling and well-preserved colorful reliefs.  Return to Luxor in the evening, overnight stay.

Visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, an architectural masterpiece built into the cliffs of Deir El-Bahari. Explore the Valley of the Kings, the royal necropolis of the New Kingdom, home to the tombs of pharaohs like Tutankhamun and Ramses VI. Stop for shopping at local markets in Luxor. Overnight in Luxor.

Depart from Luxor on a long drive towards Minya. Stop in Sohag to visit Abydos Temple, dedicated to Osiris and famous for its “King List” – a chronological list of pharaohs carved on its walls. Continue the journey with a short rest stop midway

Arrive in Minya, check in at hotel, overnight stay. Visit Tell el-Amarna, the capital city founded by Pharaoh Akhenaten, dedicated to the worship of the Aten. Continue to Beni Hassan Tombs, Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs decorated with vivid scenes of daily life, wrestling, hunting, and agriculture. Overnight in Minya.

Visit Tuna el-Gebel, the necropolis of Hermopolis, with fascinating Greco-Roman tombs and sacred animal catacombs. Continue to Monastery of Gebel el-Tayr, one of Egypt’s most important Christian pilgrimage sites. Drive to Cairo, check in at hotel, overnight stay.

Explore Saqqara, home of the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the earliest stone pyramid in history.   Visit Dahshur, to see the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, representing the evolution of pyramid building.   Return to Cairo, overnight stay.

Sphinx, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.  Explore the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), showcasing treasures of ancient Egypt, including the full Tutankhamun collection. Transfer to Cairo International Airport for departure.
